About the event

The BIWAES series started in the year 1998 and is now at its 10th edition. During the past 20 years, a community of scientists, industry and business energy experts, administrators and policy-makers, social and environmental stakeholders converged to different locations of the world to keep sharpening their focus on energy-related issues and build a critical mass and networks for improved understanding of costs and benefits of energy resources, technologies and uses.

This interdisciplinary effort stems from the awareness that science and technology achievements, economic processes, art and creativity, policy-making and governance, information networks, religions and worldwide social movements all may contribute to different extents to an appropriate resource and environmental management and fruition, in order to promote access to development means, better quality of life and environmental protection.

This Workshop edition is about energy and wellbeing. We are all aware that the ways societies selforganize, grow, change and decline are affected by and in turn affect resource availability. Two basic resources, energy availability and environmental quality, determine processes, lifestyles, relations, population dynamics, trade, and ultimately migrations, wealth and poverty, and world stability. Participants are therefore invited to share their energy-related scientific, technological, economic and social findings and insights, in order to contribute to a better understanding and management of the present world dynamics, with special focus on energy use and environmental quality.
